Schuette welcomed Midland County Sheriff Scott Holzinger as his guest on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at the state Capitol during a special ceremony commemorating the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. The ceremony honors first responders and members of the military from Michigan, including those who died in the line of duty in the past year.

“When I walked into work at our nation’s capital as a Defense Intelligence Agency Officer, I passed by a massive American flag, a disarmed SCUD missile recovered from the first Gulf War – and “The Patriots Memorial” – a tribute to those agency officers who lost their lives during the attacks of September 11, 2001. Eight of those remembered were intelligence officers who were killed when a plane hit the Pentagon on 9/11. It was and is a powerful reminder of the tremendous sacrifice borne by our nation that day,” Schuette said. “I am grateful that Midland County Sheriff Scott Holzinger joined me in Lansing today to honor those lives lost and pay tribute to our first responders and law enforcement officers who keep us safe. We will never forget and are grateful to all of those in the line of duty.”

Schuette represents Midland County as part of the 95^th House District.
