State Rep. Tim Kelly participated in a special 9/11 remembrance ceremony at the Michigan State Capitol alongside Jason Bowen, chief of the Elsie Area Fire Authority, to honor the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and recognize the first responders who courageously answered the call.

“Sept. 11 is a day our nation will never forget,” Kelly said. “It was an honor to have Chief Bowen join me as we remembered the innocent Americans we lost and paid tribute to the first responders who ran toward danger to save the lives of others. Their courage, sacrifice and selflessness represent the very best of our country.”

Kelly said having a local fire chief join him for the ceremony was a meaningful reminder of the firefighters and other first responders who continue to answer the call to serve their communities every day.

“The men and women who put on the uniform and serve their neighbors deserve our deepest gratitude,” Kelly said. “As we remember those we lost on Sept. 11, we also honor the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice and those who continue their legacy of service in communities across Michigan.”
