After reclaiming the majority in the Michigan House of Representatives, House Republicans on Thursday elected state Rep. Mike Harris to serve as majority caucus whip for the 2025-2026 term.

Harris, R-Waterford, has served as House Republican whip since January 2023.

“Michigan voters swept House Republicans back into the majority, and we’re on a mission to move our state forward once again,” Harris said. “I’m looking forward to serving as caucus whip again this term, giving my community a voice in the House leadership team. Now, our majority caucus will continue working to keep people safe, fix our roads, provide a good education, and protect hard-working taxpayers from tax hikes and wasteful spending.”

As whip, Harris will keep colleagues up to date about important issues and decisions coming up in the Michigan House of Representatives. He will also serve as a liaison between the caucus leadership team and other representatives, tracking votes and assisting legislators with policy-related questions.

Harris represents the Oakland County-based 52nd House District, which includes the cities of Lake Angelus and Clarkston, Independence Township, and portions of Springfield and Waterford townships.
