State Rep. Nancy DeBoer (R-Holland) and Senator Roger Victory today presented a legislative tribute and an American flag from the State Capitol to Vern Veldheer, owner of Veldheer Tulip Gardens, in recognition of the farm’s 75th anniversary.

“Veldheer Tulip Gardens is a beloved Holland treasure that has brought joy to countless Michiganders,” said DeBoer. “Veldheer Tulips Garden began in 1950 with just 100 red tulips and 300 white tulips and has grown into a breathtaking display of more than 5.5 million tulips each year. For 75 years, this family-run farm has showcased the beauty of our community and state.”

Still family-owned and operated, Veldheer Tulip Gardens remains a cornerstone of the Holland community. In addition to millions of tulips, the gardens feature thousands of Dutch lilies, daylilies, peonies, and other rare perennials—set among windmills, drawbridges, and scenic canals that reflect Holland’s rich heritage.

“Vern is also a proud World War II U.S. Army veteran. His service to our country, along with his enduring dedication to the Holland community, is truly inspiring. I am honored to present this tribute in recognition of his remarkable 99-year legacy.”
