RELEASE|March 5, 2024
Contact: Cam Cavitt

State Rep. Cam Cavitt is encouraging small businesses experiencing financial hardships due to a historic lack of snow this winter to apply for federal funding through the Small Business Administration (SBA). Federal Economic Injury Disaster Loans are available to businesses in 42 Michigan counties because of ongoing drought declarations. This includes all six counties represented by Cavitt, Cheboygan, Presque Isle, Montmorency, Alpena, Alcona, and Oscoda.

“So many unique small businesses were affected by the lack of snow this year,” Cavitt said. “No one ever talks about the snowplow companies. I only had to get my property plowed once this year. It was nice for my wallet, but I know that the lack of business left some plow truck drivers in a tough financial situation. These dollars are for the people just like the snowplow drivers. Those who were expecting income this winter that they didn’t even come close to earning.”

Cavitt said he is prepared to assist folks through the relief application process. Cavitt’s Lansing office can be reached can be reached by phone at (517) 373-0833 or by email at [email protected].

For more information on the SBA loans, contact the SBA Disaster Assistance Customer Service Center by phone at 800-659-2955 or by email at [email protected].
